Rocky Mountain Obituaries

, 89, of Elbert, Colo., died July 29, 2006, at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit in Greeley, Colo.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1917, in Jefferson County, Iowa, to George Moffett Phillips and Mabel Agnes (Metz) Phillips. The family moved from Iowa to Elbert in March 1920, where they purchased a farm northwest of town. She attended school in Elbert, graduating from Elbert High School in 1934.

On Sept. 1, 1940, Helen married Earl Edward Ramey. They purchased a farm east of Elbert, and in 1941 built the house where they raised their family, and where she lived until her death.

Helen is survived by her sons: James and wife Sandra of Dublin, Ohio, and Don and wife Elizabeth of Apex, N.C.; daughters Dorothy Eidem of Evans, Colo., and Alice and husband Larry Kashner of Calhan, Colo.; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents; brothers Carl, Floyd and Wayne; sisters Mary and Bernice; and son-in-law Lloyd Eidem.

Services were held on Aug. 3 in Elbert. Interment was at Elbert Cemetery.
