, age 89, of Grand Junction, Colo., died Dec. 30, 2006, at his home.

He was born June 11, 1917, on Carr Creek, north of DeBeque, Colo., to Ralph P. and Gertrude (Moulton) Henderson. He grew up in the DeBeque and Appleton areas, and graduated from DeBeque High School. He played basketball, and was involved with the football team.

The most wonderful event in his life was his marriage to Erma Gene DeRush on Sept. 10, 1938. They celebrated their 68th anniversary last September.

Bob worked many jobs in his early life: herding sheep, repairing cars, and cooking in a cafe. He was a welder and a heavy equipment operator.

He served in the Army, and shortly after his return went to work for the Grand Valley Irrigation Company, where he served as superintendent. He retired as superintendent after 42-1/2 years, continuing his employment with them at the Palisade headgate until ill health forced him to retire. Bob was very proud of his accomplishments with Grand Valley Irrigation.

Bob is survived by his wife, Gene; daughters Bobbi and husband Jack of Craig, Colo., and Sherry Webb of Arvada, Colo.; grandchildren Dorri and husband Roger Thompson, Kristi Barnes and Chad Thompson, all of Grand Junction, Larri and husband Jeff Winslow of Craig, Doug and wife Kimber Peed of Baggs, Wyo, Michelle and husband Eric Duran of Lakewood, Holly and husband Kirk Engle of Westminster, and Randy and wife DaNae Castonguay of Hudson, Colo.; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ralph and sister Phyllis Craddock.

Bob was deeply and truly loved by all who knew him.

Services were held on Jan. 4, 2007, in Grand Junction.
