Donald Hoffman, age 77, lifelong Fort Morgan, Colo., resident, died Feb. 14, 2009, at his home north of Fort Morgan.

He was born on Dec. 28, 1931, in Fort Morgan, to Abraham and Helena Hoffman.

Donald married Twilla Gergen on Nov. 11, 1964, in Greeley, Colo. They have made Fort Morgan their home, where Donald has farmed all of his life.

He was a member of Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan.

Donald is survived by his wife, Twilla; his children: David Hoffman of Fort Morgan, Robin Enfante of Brighton, Colo., John Hoffman of Denver, Colo., Lou Ann Hoffman of Greeley, Colo., Hope Weinmaster of Gilbert, Ariz., Faith Gardner of Loveland, Colo., Henry Weinmaster of Batavia, Ill., Dianna Kenney of Paso Robles, Calif., and Garold Hoffman of Vernal, Utah; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Phyllis Ladd of Merino, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hoffman, and his parents.

Services were held on Feb. 18 in Fort Morgan. Interment followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Edna Louise Lester, age 83, of Sterling, Colo., died Feb. 14, 2009, at her home, following a short battle with brain cancer.

She was born on May 14, 1925, in Pine Bluffs, Wyo., the eldest child and daughter of Oliver and Mary Icel Wood. She lived in Wyoming until her marriage to Jess L. Lester on April 6, 1947.

After living in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wyoming, Edna and Jess, along with their eight children, settled in Colorado in the early ’60s. Edna, alongside her husband, ran two cafes ” one in Nebraska and one in Merino. They also ran several businesses in Sterling. Edna delivered for EFD Freight on her own before retiring with Jess.

Edna was a longtime member of the VFW and DAV auxiliaries in Sterling. She enjoyed gardening (she loved her tomatoes and roses), knitting, crocheting, sewing, cards, dancing, bowling, and especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Jess; four sons: John and wife Barbara, Jess LeRoy Junior and wife Bernadette, Jack C. and James Dale, all of Sterling; four daughters: Icel and husband Thomas of Sterling, Nancy and husband Jerry Study, Betty and husband LaVar Floyd, and Linda Lester, all of Brush, Colo.; 17 grandkids, and 32 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed.

Services were held on Feb. 19 in Sterling.
