Greeley, Colo.

LaVerna May Winter, 88, of Greeley, formerly of Eaton, Colo., passed away on June 28, 2019, at Meadowview Assisted Living.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1930, in Greeley to Reuben and Freda (Weideman) Lebsack.

Laverna graduated from Eaton High School in 1948. She later married Eugene Winter on Feb. 14, 1950, in Greeley. The couple farmed in the Eaton area for most of their lives, retiring in 1991.

LaVerna enjoyed time with family, bowling, camping, playing cards and lunch with her friends.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Winter; two sons, Robert (Judy) Winter and LeRoy Winter, both of Greeley; two daughters, Diane Ditter of Greeley and Debra (Doug) Allen of Ault, Colo.; a sister, Arlene (Ed) Foss of Gill, Colo.; nine grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Eleanor Speaker, a son-in-law, Leonard Ditter, a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Winter and two great-grandsons.

A graveside service to celebrate LaVerna’s life was held on July 5, 2019, at the Eaton Cemetery.
