Outlaw Trail Scenic Byway hosts trail ride
Fence Post Editor
The inaugural Outlaw Trail Scenic Byway Trail Ride will be held on May 21-22, 2011, at Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge and Government Canyon near Valentine, Neb.
This is a no-fee ride, but donations may be made to the byway organization. Pre-registration is required by May 6th. The ride is limited to 45 participants. All riders will receive a commemorative Outlaw Trail scarf and have an opportunity to purchase the new byway book of outlaw history Legends and Lore Along the Outlaw Trail.
The goals of this and subsequent rides are to provide riders with the experience of first-hand discovery of the Niobrara River Valley, to enjoy with fellow riders the beautiful and diverse landscape of the area, and to gain an appreciation of local outlaw history. Any funds raised will be used in support of the byway’s effort to publish their book about the outlaws that roamed the trail in days gone by and to create interpretive information for specific outlaw sites.
