Picnic times are family memory makers

Summer weather and vacation time call for picnics. They can be as simple or gourmet as suits your fancy. To have it be a fun, relaxed time for all, get things together the day before you go. Start by making a list, then divide the tasks among all of the family that are capable of helping. If picnics involve extended family or friends, make the dinner pot-luck.

Paper plates, plastic ware, paper cups, paper towels, (they double as napkins and can wipe up spills). Table cloth, hand disinfectant, and a blanket to use incase you can’t find a table.

Thermos of ice water and/or favorite drinks, sun screen, ball or frisbee and camera. Be sure to keep cold foods cold and hot foods hot.

If you like to have impromptu picnics, keep a box packed with paper plates, cups, etc. ready to head for the hills at a moments notice. A list of parks and hikes helps to make quick decisions on where to go.

Deli foods are handy, but they usually don’t compare to your own freshly made dishes.
