MARYBELLE SUTTON, 86, of Alliance, Neb., passed away October 30, 2011 at Heritage Estates in Gering, Neb.

She grew up and attended school in Joplin, Mo. She attended Alliance High School her junior year then graduated from Joplin High School in 1942.

While at Alliance she met the love of her life, Alfred “Cy” Sutton. They were married in Joplin, Mo., on September 29, 1942 and celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Marybelle and Cy lived on their ranch south of Ashby, Neb., until his death in 2009.

She was an active member of the Wait and See Extension Club, Alliance Christian Church and loved square dancing, quilting, knitting and sewing. She will be remembered as a happy and good natured woman.

She is survived by her sons Gary (Anna) Sutton of Alliance, Neb., Neal (Susan) Sutton of Ashby, Neb., Ron Sutton (Zola Braden) of Scottsbluff, Neb.; daughter Cheryl Sheldon of Alliance, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother Margaret and Robert Covey Sr. of Magnolia, Texas; her sisters-in-law Marge Sutton of Ashby, Neb., Louise Miley of Arkansas City, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Richard Covey Sr. and Howard Covey, and sisters Wilma Covey Flynn and Juanita Covey Winston.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2011 at the Alliance Christian Church in Alliance, Neb.

A private family inurnment will be held at the Ashby Cemetery at a later time. At her request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
