William Harlan Lorenz, 61, of Lyman, Neb., died Oct. 21, 2010, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

He was born in Greeley, Colo., on Jan. 21, 1949, to Ralph and Althea (Cox) Lorenz. He grew up in Gilcrest, Colo., and moved to Wyoming in the early 1980s, where he spent his life working on the family farm.

He was a Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.

His daughter and her family were his pride and joy. His weekly Tuesday afternoon visits were the highlight of their week.

He was a good neighbor, friend and advisor. He was the guy you went to when you needed something handled. He was an active member of the Lyman Christian Church where he served as treasurer.

Survivors include his daughter, Keri (Jeremy) Brunner of Gering; granddaughter, Kendall; grandsons, Trenton and Cody; nieces, Angela King of California and Shawntey Lorenz-Sandoval of Cheyenne; and ex-wife, Linda Lorenz of Cheyenne.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald O. Lorenz.
