Alma M. Romans, 98, of North Platte died March 14, 2011, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Valley County, Neb., to Edward Charles and Eliza Anna Bricker Holloway. She graduated in 1930 from Ord High School.

She married Jean Romans on Oct. 8, 1933, at her home in Ord.



They moved to North Platte in 1943, she was a clerk at Moran’s Jewelry for 17 years.

She loved to play bridge, the organ, and to travel. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and friends, and she really enjoyed the grandchildren.



She has been a member of the Methodist Church since 1925, Circle 8 of the Church, and Past President of the Union Pacific United Employees Club Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann (Bruce) Forbes of Greeley, Colo.; five grandsons, Kevin (Cindy), Tim (Karen) and Jeff (Robyn) O’Connor all of North Platte, Dan O’Connor of Phoenix, Ariz., and Michael (Keeta) Scholl of Sacramento, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Kathleen (Katie) O’Connor; son-in-law, Tom O’Connor; sister, Thelma Johnston; and two brothers, Glen (Hap) and Boyd Holloway.
