George Henry Rewerts, 95, of Hildreth, died April 29, 2011, at Kearney County Health Services-Hospital in Minden.

He was born March 31, 1916, at their home south of Hildreth to John and Rezena (Jurgens) Rewerts.

He was baptized on April 22, 1916, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hildreth by the Rev. Hauserman and confirmed in the same church by the Rev. E. Dorner. He attended school at District 26 south of Hildreth. He enjoyed helping his father and others with farming.

On April 18, 1940, he married Anna Hinrichs at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church south of Hildreth by the Rev. Jungmier. She preceded him in death.

They lived on several farms. They then moved to a farm west of Hildreth where they lived until 2006 when they moved to Bethany Assisted Living in Minden.

He was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, which later became part of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth. He was a devoted husband and father. He loved farming and had a natural gift to care for and nurture animals.

He liked playing cards, was an avid sports fan and liked attending family reunions, visiting with friends and telling stories.

Survivors include his daughters, Janiene Rewerts of Kearney and Mary (Garry) Steele of Edgar; son, Verlyn Rewerts of Kearney; grandchildren, Tauny Hecht, Tara (David) Gunderson, and Wade (Suzanne) Steele; six great-grandchildren; brother, Irvin Rewerts of Hildreth; brothers-in-law, Elmer (Jennie) Hinrichs, and Marvin (Irene) Hinrichs all of Hildreth, and John Gishwiller of Wilcox; and sisters-in-law, Edna Sheffield of Kearney and Dorene Hinrichs of Hildreth.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
