Duane T. ‘Benny’ Von Seggern, 78, of Sidney, Neb., died May 9, 2011, at the Memorial Health Center in Sidney.

He was born on September 29, 1932, at Wisner, Neb., to Bernard and Myrtle (Christensen) Von Seggern.

He graduated from Wisner High School in 1949.

On Feb. 8, 1958, he was united in marriage to Patricia Jean McCarthy at West Point, Neb.

He worked for various cattle feeders in Cuming County prior to working for Louis Dinklage. In 1969 they moved to Sidney to build and manage Dinklage Feed Yard, Inc. He retired in 1997 as General Manager of the six Dinklage yards.

He was a former Golden Gloves Boxer, supported Dryland Toughies 4-H Club, St. Patrick’s Athletics and was member of the Sidney Elks Club. He enjoyed fishing, trains and following his grandchildren’s activities.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Sidney; son, Tom (Cindy) and their children, Patrick (Shiela) Michael, Sara and Kelly; two daughters, Susan of Sidney and Jean and sons, Alec and Hayden all of Sidney; and Jeffrey’s children, Christine Von Seggern and Andrew Von Seggern of Queen Creek, Ariz.; brother, Jim (Eleanor) of Wisner; two sisters, Virginia (Marvin) Baird of Big Springs, Neb., and Bobbie Pflueger of Quartz Hills, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Pflueger and son, Jeffrey.
