Troy A. Nutter, 53, of Thedford died July 11, 2010.

He was born Aug. 8, 1956, in Broken Bow, to Wanda Nutter Mackley and the late Russell Nutter.

He grew up on the family ranch east of Thedford, and graduated from Thedford High School in 1974.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1974 until 1980 and served as an electronic technician. He then attended Spartan School of Aeronautics for 2 years.

To further his education, he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University and received a bachelor of science degree in air frame and power plant management.

He attended officer candidate school in Virginia, and was then commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He became part of an inner-service transfer to the U.S. Navy and became a C-130 pilot.

In his final 3 years of active duty, he served as a Naval recruiter and completed his 22 years of military service in the U.S. Naval Reserve. During that time, he received his masters of science degree at Central Missouri State University in Aviation Safety.

On June 27, 1981, he married Linda Sellin in Norfolk. This union was blessed with six children. Their life together found them living in Oklahoma, Virginia, Florida, Texas, Hawaii, and Missouri, before returning to Thedford.

He was an active member of the Thedford Rescue Unit, Scenic Byways Committee, volunteer baseball coach, basketball referee, Bethel Assembly of God Church member and board member, Thedford school bus driver, and was involved in various other activities. He loved to fish, hunt, golf, fly airplanes, camp, watch local youth sporting events, and spend time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Thedford; daughter, Shena of Alexandria, Virg.; son, Myles of Antioch, Calif.; daughter, Treva, and son, Jacey, of Thedford; mother, Wanda (Leonard) Mackley of Thedford; siblings Connie (Ben) Moser of North Platte, Mark (Marian) Nutter of Thedford, Brad (Anne) Nutter of Hickman; father-in-law, Duane Sellin of Norfolk; his wife’s family, Gary Sellin of Boliver, Mo., Nancy (Delton) Barr of Liberty, David (Cindy) Sellin of Norfolk, Arlan (Rochelle) Sellin of Hoskins, Kent., (Kathy) Sellin of Norfolk, Lee Sellin of Norfolk, Todd (Rhonda) Sellin of Norfolk; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
