George Kraft, Jr., of Alliance died Feb. 25, 2010, at Box Butte General Hospital.

He was born March 26, 1924, in Grant, Neb., to George and Clara (Weiland) Kraft. He lived in the Grant area until he entered the U.S. Army on March 18, 1943. He served in both WW II and the Korean War until his honorable discharge on Aug. 7, 1952.

He married Hannah Jane McFarland on Sept. 16, 1959. They lived in Kentucky for a few years until returning to Nebraska. They moved to Alliance in 1968.

He worked for what is now Parker in Alliance until his retirement.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his daughter, Peggy (Robert) Young of Scottsbluff; his son, Mark (Donna) Kraft of Fairfield, Iowa; his grandchildren, Vanessa (Josh) Sherlock of Columbus, Matthew Johnson of Scottsbluff, Cynthia (Justin) Nightingale, Mark Jr. (Alicia) Kraft, Susan Kraft and Travis Kraft all of Iowa; his great-grandchildren Gabriella and Kristian Nightingale, Elizabeth Martin, Jamie Martin and Cooper Kraft, Paige Sherlock and Mackenzie Sherlock; and his brothers and sisters, John (Yoko) Kraft of California, Bertha Campbell of Missouri, Katie (John) Barber of Colorado, Susie (Dean) Starr of Sidney, Ilene Vian of Oshkosh, Betty (Jim) Jones of Wisconsin and Philip Kraft and numerous nieces and nephews.
