Deanna K. Yackey, 68, of Greeley, Colo., passed away November 12, 2010, in Greeley, Colo., from complications related to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

She was born Aug. 6, 1942, in Quinter, Kan., to Esther May Thacker. After her mother passed away when she was three days old, her grandparents, Frank and Grace Thacker, raised her in Gove, Kan.

She graduated in a class of nine students from Gove High School in 1960. While visiting her uncle in Greeley, Colo., when she was 14, she met Clarence George Yackey, they were both on tractors at neighboring farms. They were later married on Aug. 14, 1961, in Loveland, Colo., and lived in Windsor, Colo., until 1964 when they moved to Greeley, Colo.



In 1963, Deanna was hired by State Farm Insurance and helped open the Mountain States Regional Office. She was extremely proud to be one of the first women across the nation to be promoted into management at State Farm. She completed the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation during her career and served a term as president for the local CLU chapter. She retired in 1998.

Deanna enjoyed polka dancing, and going to the stock car races to watch Clarence compete. Early in their marriage and later in life, she enjoyed camping with the family and working on genealogy. She also spent time traveling with Clarence to antique shows.



After her retirement, she spent time traveling, playing with her grandchildren, fixing up her home, working part time and watching her son, Bruce, compete in stock car races.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Yackey; son, Bruce Yackey and wife Christi; and four grandchildren, Joann Genua, Brian, Brett and Heather Yackey, all of Greeley, Colo.

Memorial servcies were held November 17, 2010 at Stoddard Funeral Home.
