Mary Ann Carlson, 71, of Stoneham, Colo., died June 1, 2009, in Sterling, Colo., after a three-year battle with cancer.

She was born June 28, 1937, to Victor and Rachel Meininger in Fort Morgan, Colo. She graduated from Weldona High School in 1955.

On Sept. 2, 1956, Mary Ann married Harold Lee Carlson. They were married for 52 years and lived on a farm in Stoneham where they raised their family.

Mary Ann thoroughly enjoyed the farm life. Some of her favorite activities included driving the wheat truck at harvest and maintaining a beautiful yard. She loved to help out with the livestock, farrowing sows, working with the cattle and raising fryer chickens.

Mary Ann and Harold enjoyed taking their young family to 4-H horse shows and fairs. Another favorite summer activity included taking many trips to Lake McConaughy in Nebraska with Stoneham friends and family.

She loved watching her sons, and later, her grandchildren, play sports and participate in county fairs. She was an honorary FFA New Raymer Chapter member and Colorado Association member and spent many hours volunteering at the New Raymer Fair.

They attended the Lutheran Church in Stoneham for many years and they were members of the First English Lutheran Church in Sterling.

Funeral services were held June 5, at First Christian Church in Sterling, Colo. Interment followed at Prairie View Cemetery in Stoneham.
