Elda Valeria Schmidt, 87, of Loveland, Colo., passed away June 4, 2009.

Elda Valeria (Lapp) Schmidt was born to George & Minnie (Crow) Lapp on March 24, 1922 in Nebraska. She went to school in Nebraska. Elda was married to Ivin Schmidt Sr., on August 20, 1939, baptized and confirmed all in the Lutheran Faith at North Platte, Neb.

Elda and Alvin Sr. Lived in North Platte & Dalton, Neb., Albany, Wyo., then moved to Loveland, Colo., in 1945. They farmed in the Berthoud and Loveland area as hired help. Alvin Sr. later worked for Larimer County.

Elda worked for Sprengers Cherry Orchard and Factory, Kurners Factory, Scientific Electonices, Porter Industries and Teledyne Water Pik Factory, retiring in 1991.

She was an avid gardener and loved her flower gardens. Elda was a very good canner of vegetables and fruits, cooked the best fried chicken, and was an excellent baker of breads, cakes, and cinnamon rolls. She also raised chickens (fryer’s). She passed her legacy on to her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Elda will be missed by a special friend Elda Riegel, and many other special friends and relatives.

Services were held June 9, 2009, at Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home. Interment Resthaven Memoral Gardens.
