Soybean yield and quality contest

Richard Snell
Barton County Extension Agent

We have some fabulous looking soybeans again this year. I hope we have several farmers from our county enter the Kansas Soybean Yield and Quality Contest. Here’s how it works.

Choose one of your best fields (or more than one if they are in different categories). The field needs to be at least 5 acres and either measured or you can use FSA measurements. Get a supervisor such as myself or other approved unbiased person to come out and check the harvest.

There is no entry fee if you are a member of the Kansas Soybean Association. Entry fee is $10 for non-members. The state is divided into districts and also into irrigated and dryland, no-till and conventional tillage. No pre-entry is needed; just keep your scale tickets. The deadline is November 30. We have entry forms and rules at the extension office and may contact us at (620) 793-1910.
