Swift Foundation provides cash assistance to three Greeley schools, dozens of others across nation

Three Greeley schools and another organization that works with children in Weld County are among the more than 30 recipients of Bessie Minor Swift Foundation grants to promote literacy, reading and writing skills while focusing on arts, languages and sciences.
The Swift Foundation, formed by the owners and founder of Swift Communications, which owns The Fence Post and numerous other publications across the western United States, has awarded $74,736.16 in grants this year.
The grants will go to recipients in 14 counties across five states, including California, Nevada, Oregon and Montana.
In Greeley, Dos Rios Elementary School will receive $3,000 for science books, novel sets, garden tools, cooking utensils and chrome books to be used in conjunction with the school's Culture Garden/Un Jardin con Cultura, according to a Swift Foundation news release.
Greeley Central High School, Salida del Sol Academy and RSVP of Weld County also received awards.
Those four entities are among 36 total grant recipients this year, including numerous schools. Since 2008, the Swift Foundation has awarded more than $375,000 to 145 organizations in communities where Swift Communications does business.
