Thanksgiving Day thoughts

Nona Kelley Carver

Please don’t let Thanksgiving Day

be lost in the big push

Of busy people clamoring

to beat the Christmas rush.

Thanksgiving Day was set aside

to give the Lord our praise

Recommended Stories For You

For harvest bounty in the fall

and strength to meet our days.

It isn’t just for football games

we see on the TV,

Or cramming crowded highways

to reach some destiny.

It is a time to celebrate

with special folks you know;

A time when families gather,

perhaps to Grandma’s go.

So let us keep Thanksgiving Day,

each try to do our part.

We will not lose its meaning

if we’re thankful in our heart.
