The Bessie Minor Swift Foundation looking for grant applications

The Bessie Minor Swift Foundation is accepting grant applications from nonprofits in Greeley and the surrounding area for programs that promote writing, reading and literacy skills or arts, languages and sciences. Applications are accepted now through Feb. 15 and the recipients of the grants will be announced on May 2. Grantees can request anywhere from $500 to $3,000.

Since 2008, the Bessie Minor Swift Foundation has awarded more than $300,000 in grants. The foundation prefers grants for programs rather than strictly for technology, and also prefers to award grants to local, tax-exempt organizations that do not have large fundraising budgets.

The owners and founder of Swift Communications, the parent company of The Fence Post, formed The Bessie Minor Swift Foundation in honor of Swift founder Philip Swift's mother.
