Tour of UNL Panhandle Research Feedlot and research presentations planned June 24
Panhandle Research and Extension Center
Interested cattle producers are invited to join the year-end meeting of the Integrated Resource Management Group on June 24 at the University of Nebraska Panhandle Research and Extension Center at Scottsbluff, Neb. The meeting will include a tour of the UNL Panhandle Research Feedlot, and several informational presentations.
Those interested in a tour of the feedlot and an update on recent research results should meet at the Panhandle Center, 4502 Ave. I, at 3 p.m. At 4 p.m. the group will meet back at the Center for a summary of the performance data of the cattle in the program, as well as a presentation by Dr. Dave Smith, UNL extension veterinarian, on High Altitude or Brisket Disease.
Additionally, there will be a presentation on the relationship of packers and cattle producers.
The Integrated Resource Management (IRM) Pen of 5 Decision Making Program, conducted by UNL and Darnall Feedlot, is designed to help producers compare feedlot performance and carcass characteristics of their herds with industry averages.
Steaks will be served after the meeting, so anyone who plans to attend should RSVP to Karla Jenkins, cow-calf and range management specialist at the Panhandle Center, at (308) 632-1245 or kjenkins2@unl.edu.
