Weld County 4-H Livestock Judging Team wins state competition, qualifies for nationals

The Weld County 4-H Livestock Judging Team won the state competition at Colorado State University in Fort Collins last week. The team is, from left to right, Kayla Frink, Jake Patton, Jenna Frink, Ashlyn Ochsner, Bo Naibauer, Austin Reitzenstein and coaches Christy Gabel and Steve Gabel.

The Weld County 4-H Livestock Judging Team won the livestock judging state championship last week at Colorado State University.

In the competition, the team judged cattle, hogs and sheep, according to a news release.

The win at the Colorado State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest qualified the team to compete at nationals in Louisville, Ky., in November.

Team members included Jenna Frink of Eaton, Bo Naibauer of Eaton, Ashlyn Ochsner of Kersey, Austin Reitzenstein of Kersey and alternate Jake Patton of Frederick. Steve Gabel of Galeton and Christie Gabel of Eaton are the coaches.

The team now is trying to raise enough money to attend the national competition. Anyone interested in donating to the team can contact Steve Gabel at (970) 483-7339.
