Duane E. Polson (Pa), 81, of Crawford, Colo., passed away January 8, 2011 of a sudden heart attack.

He was born in Benedict, Kan., on July 15, 1929, he moved to Colorado at the age of 7. He played forward on his high school basketball team and graduated from Crawford High School in 1947. He was in the U.S. Air Force for four years serving in Korea and Japan; in Japan he was promoted to First Class in the fifth air force headquarters which was one of the most powerful air arm under Far East air forces.

He has ranched since 1952 when he got out of the service, he also sheared sheep, worked in the mines and was a EMT.

He loved to collect knifes, creek fish, hunt, camp, go atv riding and jeep riding over passes and anywhere. A huge past time for him was watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. He was at any basketball, soccer, track and football game that he could be.

One of his favorite bible verses was Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Patricia L. Polson; his children Gary and his wife Pauline of Crawford, Colo., Scott and his wife Mary of Crawford, Colo., Randy and his wife Debbie of Crawford, Colo., Barbara and her partner Dirk Simpson of Paonia, Colo., and Rodger and his wife Sherri of Crawford, Colo.; grandchildren Kara and her husband Rob Franco, Colo., Joe Polson and his wife Clare, Sarah and her husband Cody Jordan, Rocky and her husband Wes French, Brandy and her husband Curt Floyd, Amanda Goetz, Zachary Eakin, Lauren Polson, Taylor Polson, Jaelyn Polson, Colby Simpson, Kristen Overly and Joshua Hammonds; great-grandchildren Macey Floyd, Griffin French, Carson French, Braiden Overly, Bennett Overly, Parker Overly, Dakota Buchheim, Clarissa George, Aaron Buchheim, and two babies due in May and July.

He was preceded in death by his parents Irvin and Edith Polson and his siblings, Darlene Stone, Dorrel Polson and Eloise Christen.

Memorial services were held January 12, 2011 at Crawford School.

Graveside services were held at Crawford Cemetery.
