Dena Maxine Schlangen, 78, of Delta, Colo., passed away September 30, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colo.

She was born to Henry J. and Mary F. (Dickerson) Julius on April 19, 1932 in Delta, Colo. She spent her childhood and attended schools in Crawford, Colo.

On June 26, 1949, Dena married the love of her life, Glenn William Schlangen in Paonia, Colo. To this union, five children were born. Dena and Glenn had the honor of sharing over 50 years of love and marriage together. Glenn passed away on March 29, 2000 in Delta, Colo.

Dena, a bookkeeper, enjoyed bowling, quilting, sewing, cake decorating and playing a competitive game of cribbage. More importantly, she was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending weekends with her grandkids.

Dena was an active member of the Garnet Mesa Baptist Church.

She is survived by her three daughters, Vicki Schlangen of Aurora, Colo., Kathi Marquez of Delta, Colo., and Patti (Milan) Armstrong of Cedaredge, Colo.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
