Blanche Marie Hulvey Whaley, 86, passed away Jan. 1, 2010, at the Larchwood Inn in Grand Junction, Colo.
She was born on the Ames homestead between Yampa and Phippsburg on Nov. 9, 1923 to Wesley Hulvey and Myrtle Ames.
She married Merle L. Whaley on May 31, 1940.
She loved to dance and never missed a chance to listen to Western music or go to a dance with Merle and a group of their friends. Blanche loved to talk about her brothers and sisters and tell stories about them and their cousins growing up. She became a member of the Yampa Bible Church in 1997 and was blessed and fortunate to have the help and support of the Bible Church members and the good people of Yampa.
She is survived by her three sons, Merle Jr. (Margaret) Whaley of Grand Junction, Colo., Dallas (Ina Rae) Whaley of Overton, Nev., and Dale (Kathy) Whaley of Buena Vista, Colo.; a brother, Lyle (Shirley) Hulvey of Palisade, Colo.; two sisters, Jane Babcock of Grand Junction, Colo., and Pat Lynd of Kremmling, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Whaley and a brother, Duane Hulvey.
Services were held Jan. 16, 2010 at the Yampa Bible Church.
