Armando Serrano, 86, passed away from natural causes on March 29, 2010.
Armando was born in Coyote, N.M. on May 23, 1923 to Placido and Gorgonia (Salazar) Serrano. He spent his childhood in Fruita, Colo. He was a life long resident of Garfield County, residing in Carbondale, Colo., and Glenwoodo Springs, Colo.
Armando was a rancher. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, amateur boxing and spending time with his grandchildren. He married Emma Serrano on April 19, 1945 in Grand Junction, Colo. She preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 1979.
Armando was a member of St. Jopseph’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Rose Anderson and Gloria Serrano, both of New Castle, Colo., and Barbra VanHoose of Rio Rancho, N.M.; brothers, Elifar of Fruita, Colo.; Lorenzo of Grand Junction, Colo., and Don of Fruita, Colo.; 10 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Armando Jr., and grandson, Armando “Mondo” Porter.
A visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on April 5 at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Rosary will follow at 7 p.m., and Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on April 6 at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Grand Junction.
