Eva “Marie” Worline, 95, of Paonia, Colo., passed away May 31, 2010, at Paonia Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born November 26, 1914 in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was raised in Oklahoma City, Okla., and attended school there. She was the youngest of six children born to Eva Deardorff Davis and James K. Davis. Marie moved to Denver, Colo., in the early 1930s.

Marie was a sports enthusiast and an avid tennis player. It was while playing and heading a tennis club in Denver’s Washington Park that she met her future husband, Ralph P. Miller, who was also playing for the club. They were married in June of 1935. Marie and Ralph raised four children in Littleton, Colo.

A very big passion of Marie’s was cooking and baking. Marie was the lunchroom manager at Arapahoe High School in Littleton, Colo., for 25 years. A few years after the death of her husband Ralph, she moved to Carbondale, Colo., to open up her own business named Marie’s Bake Shop. During this time, Marie met Doug Worline. He would come to the bake shop every morning at 6 a.m., for his coffee and cinnamon roll. They were married in 1975. They retired, traveled and then settled down in Paonia, Colo., for the remainder of their lives. Doug passed away in 2005.

She will best be remembered by her family and friends for her optimism and positive outlook on life, her wonderful sense of humor, and her beautiful smile. We love her and will miss her very much.

She is survived by her son, Don Miller of Boise, Idaho; her daughters, Ruth Miller of Littleton, Colo., and Kathy Bradley of Paonia, Colo.; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and stepsons, Curt Worline of Delta, Colo., Patrick Worline of Parachute, Colo., and Alan Worline of Denver, Colo., along with their wives and families.
