Patricia (Pat) Holmlund, 80, of Delta, Colo., passed away June 3, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born September 10, 1929 in Denver, Colo., to Dr. Thomas and Mrs. A. Evelyn Thorn. She was raised in Arvada, Colo., where she proudly attended Arvada High School. She attended Stephens College and University of Colorado, Boulder where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. While in Boulder, Colo., she met Jim Gibson of Delta, Colo. The two were married and soon settled in Delta, Colo., where they owned and operated Gibson Fur Farms. They had four children, Kathy, Tom, Bill and Mike. In 1987, Pat married Bruce Holmlund and continued to treasure living in Delta, Colo., with her family and husband until the day of her death.

A continued source of pride for Pat was her participation of the CU Alumni Association. She was recognized individually for her support and undeniable pride for CU. In addition, she was a member of a Denver Job’s Daughters in Arvada, Colo.

Pat loved the Delta community and was ever-devoted to many projects throughout the city. She cherished her participation in the Community Concert Association. She served on the City Mural Project and a citizen’s group writing letters to legislators for Delta County Memorial Hospital certificate of need. She was an active volunteer for the Republican party, the Delta County Memorial Foundational Group, and Ute Council Tree Pow Wow. She was a 50 plus year member of P.E.O. Chapter BK, Delta. She was also an avid bridge player, playing in two different groups.

Pat held various different jobs within the city. She was instrumental in helping establish medical practices for both Dr. Jeffrey Berkosky and Dr. Nick Hattel in the early 1980’s. She also worked for the State Unemployment Office for a number of years. She was a beautifully talented soprano singer who sang with the Sweet Adelines as well as the Valley Symphony Orchestra until she tragically lost her ability her sing. One of her most treasured roles in the community was being a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where she attended for over 50 years. At St. Luke’s she held positions on the church guild, sang in the choir, and participated in numerous fund-raisers.

More than singing, participating in the community, or playing bridge with her friends, Pat loved her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Holmlund of Delta, Colo.; a sister, Barbara Parvin of Aurora, Colo.; her children, Kathy Lemon, Bill Gibson, and Mike and Carlotta Gibson, all of Delta, Colo., and Tom and Sherry Gibson of Cottage Grove, Wis.; two step-children Arcy Holmlund of Gillette, Wyo., and Ryan and Jennifer Holmlund, of Craig, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Evelyn Thorn and a sister, Marti McWilliams.

Memorial services were held June 8, 2010 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Delta, Colo.
