Glen R. Morse, 93, of Molina, Colo., passed away July 21, 2009.
He was born Sept. 26, 1915, to Roy Walter and Aria Belle Morse in the Sand Hills of Nebraska. The family moved to Fruitvale, Colo., in 1916 where hey ran a pear and apple orchard. His father also bought a pasture on Glade Park where they ran cattle. In 1925 Glen’s family moved to Plateau Valley where they ranched. Glen attended the Little Creek School and graduated from Collbran Union High School in 1933. In 1935 Glen married Evelyn Amelia Koch. In 1941 Glen and Evelyn bought a ranch on Georgia Mesa in Molina, Colo., where he lived until his death.
Everyone called him “Granddad.” He had a great love for his family. The little ones always made him smile. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on the ranch. Along with ranching he helped put in the power line from Debeque to Plateau Valley and was secretary of the Collbran roping club. He helped build the PV school, the Vega Dam and the Southside canal from start to finish. He was then hired by the Bureau of Reclamation to be the first ditch rider from 1959 to 1977. He was a member of the Georgia Mesa School Board and Cottonwood Lakes Reservoir Co. Glen was honored as Cattleman of the Year and in 2003 he was Grand Marshall of the Collbran Junior Rodeo. He was Worship Master of the Tuscan #131 Masonic Lodge in 1967 and 1987.
He is survived by his three sons, Jerry (Patti) of Corona, Calif., Gordon of San Diego, Calif., and Bill (Naomi) of Molina, Colo.; sister, Lois Faast of Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Steve (Jill) Gossett of Gremont, Neb., Brian (Laurie) Gossett of Menifee, Calif., Leslie (Jeff) Jones of Corona, Calif., John (Shannon) Morse of Molina, Colo. Glen (Kari) Morse of Palisade, Colo. and Travis (Jessica) Morse of Hamburg, N.Y. and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 28, 2009 at the Plateau Valley Assembly of God Church.
