Wildcat Hills schedules dutch oven cooking and wildflower walk

Dutch oven cooking will be taught at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center on Saturday, June 4, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Participants will learn about Dutch ovens while preparing then eating a meal. The event starts at 11 a.m.

The cost is $5 and the deadline is May 27. Register at (308) 436-3777 or ngpc.wildcat.hills@nebraska.gov. A minimum of 10 participants is required.

Earlier in the day, the Nature Center will celebrate Nebraska Wildflower Week by holding a Wildflower Walk at 9 a.m. The free walk will begin at the Nature Center and then take participants on a discovery of western Nebraska wildflowers.

The Nature Center is located at Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area 10 miles south of Gering, Neb., in Scotts Bluff County. A park entry permit is required.
