Windsor FFA chapter to hold silent auction at Windsor High School March 2 at 5 p.m.
The Windsor FFA chapter will hold a silent auction at the Windsor High School auxiliary gym Wednesday at 5 p.m. Attendees can bid on over 75 auction items or over 70 students for hired-hand work.
“It’s our major fundraiser of the year,” said Jarrod Bessire, FFA advisor at Windsor High School.
Last year, they managed to raise about $20,000. The funds go toward conventions, competitions, travel expenses, community service activities, student dues and some scholarships. What the students are able to raise at the auction helps set the budget for the whole year.
About 400-500 people in the community attend every year, Bessire said.
Students will auction off picnic tables, wooden toolboxes, writing pens and more. Attendees can also bid on hired hands.
“A lot of them are bought by family or someone who knows them,” Bessire said. Hired-hand labor is good for baby sitting, spring cleaning and more.
There will be a barbecue pork meal for $5 per person or $15 for a family of four. Tickets will be available at the door. Pre-sale tickets are also available. ❖
