Young Farmers will meet Feb. 1-2 in Denver

The 39th Colorado Young Farmers Educational Association Institute will be held February 1-2, 2008, at the Embassy Suites Hotel at 4444 North Havana in Denver, Colorado.The members of the Yuma Chapter are hosts for the Institute.

The state officers coordinating the Institute activities include: President-Lynn Wright, Brighton; Northeastern Vice President-Brittany Cook, Kimball, Neb.; Southeastern Vice President-Eric Kipp, Yuma; Western Vice President-Don Wright, Fort Lupton; Secretary -Maureen Whittington, Fleming; Treasurer-Greg Wright, Brighton; Reporter-Kevin Hansen, Brush; Lani Michel – Immediate Past President, Atwood; Advisor – Scott Stump; Assistant Advisor – Kenton Ochsner and Executive Secretary – Jack Annan.

The Friday Educational Workshop titled, “Know The Law – Keep Your Ag Commodities Rolling” will be presented by Sergeant Rocco Domenico with the Colorado State Patrol Motor Carrier Division. The Saturday Educational Workshop titled, “Property Rights – Be Informed” will be presented by Justin Cumming, with Rothgerber Johnson and Lyons Law Firm in Denver.

The Friday evening fun night activities planned by members, of the Yuma Chapter will feature a “Bull Chip Casino Night” with many interesting activities.

Friday afternoon will include tours of the National Resource Energy Laboratory and Coors Brewery in Golden.

The 2008 Colorado Spokesperson for Agriculture contest will be held Saturday morning.

The Saturday evening Awards Banquet will include the announcement of the following award recipients: Honorary Member, Outstanding Chapter Community Service Award, Outstanding Winner and Runner-Up Chapter, Outstanding Advisor, Outstanding Agri-Business Award, Outstanding Agri-Service Award, and Outstanding Regional Young Farmers. The Case IH tractor scholarship tractor auction will also be a highlight of the activities.

The 2008-09 newly elected officers will be installed to conclude the banquet activities.
