Ag groups tell Congress that farmers’ situation is alarming
A coalition of 56 farm groups including the American Farm Bureau Federation and the National Farmers Union sent top congressional leaders a letter Thursday asking for additional support beyond the $12 billion the Trump administration is expected to provide by the end of February.
“An alarming number of farmers are financially underwater, farm bankruptcies continue to climb, and many farmers may have difficulty securing financing to grow their next crop,” the groups wrote in a letter that was distributed by the American Farm Bureau Federation.
