BRUSH, Colo. — Youth honed their skills, exhibited their registered cattle and practiced for Junior Nationals at the annual Colorado Breed Bash, held May 30-31 at the Morgan County Fairgrounds.

The 2026 events kicked off Saturday with Colorado CattleWomen’s fun Beef Ambassador program, followed by Breed Bash’s various contests — salesmanship, photography, speech and quiz bowl — held to help sharpen communication and enhance ag knowledge for more than 70 youth participants.

The stiff competition continued Sunday in the youth showmanship contests. The registered cattle, exhibited in breed-specific shows, also were evaluated by judge Dustin Frank of Nebraska. He then called back each breed Grand Champion to select the overall prize — Multi-Breed Supreme in female, bull and steer categories.

Breed Bash was a collaborative effort by junior advisers from Colorado’s Angus, Charolais, Hereford, Limousin, Mini Hereford, Shorthorn and Simmental associations. Numerous monetary patrons, including Summit-level sponsor Morgan County Commissioners, aided the volunteers in putting on the 2026 Breed Bash.
