Farm show an oasis in a world gone mad

I want to thank everyone who stopped to visit with me at the Colorado Farm Show in Greeley, Colo., on Tuesday and Wednesday. As usual, the farm show was packed and between the booths and the educational presentations there was a lot of activity.
Being at the farm show made me feel like maybe the world hasn’t gone mad. People gathered, chatted with old and new friends about the weather, the markets and anything else that came to mind. There was no protesting, and people who chose to express their political beliefs with hats or T-shirts were not attacked.
I admittedly spend too much time listening to the news and these days much of it is disturbing. Although most visitors to our booth were upbeat, I could sense a feeling of uneasiness about the riots in Minneapolis and crazy progressive ideas that threaten to tear a hole in the fabric of our society. While some people at the farm show openly talked about these issues, others were more subtle about the political divide facing our country.
I don’t think I have ever in my life been so worried about the future of this country. I have seen videos where doctors won’t admit that men can’t have babies and can’t describe a woman. They call this gender ideology and people who follow this believe that children can be born in the wrong body. These people allow their children to have surgery to change their gender.
This is not only complete and utter nonsense, but it is also dangerous for these children. What happens to them when they get older and realize that the really didn’t want their gender changed? I think we will be seeing a lot of legal battles between these children, their parents and their doctors.
And now, after a long fight for women’s civil rights under Title IX, once again we are facing discrimination in high school and college sports. When I was in high school, girls could only compete in track and field. After Title IX was passed we had girl’s basketball, and today women get to compete in everything from hockey to wrestling. All of this is being erased by allowing men to compete in women’s sports. And even crazier is that this discrimination is supported by some women.
I am stumped by this and I’m trying to figure out why this is happening and when it started. Did it just happen overnight or has it been slowly seeping into our society over a long period of time?
The illegal immigration issue is also very pervasive and has already caused rifts in our society. There are legal ways to enter the United States and many people have come here looking for a better life for themselves and their families.
Watching the rioting in Minneapolis makes me sick. People have lost their minds and have no respect for law and order.
We can only hope and pray for a return to sanity and a simpler way of life, where there are two genders and people who want to come into this country do so legally.
