New Year’s Resolutions past and present

As many of The Fence Post long time readers know, this is the time for me to come up with New Year’s Resolutions.
Last year’s resolutions were mostly about improving The Fence Post, exercising and eating healthy and getting my finances in order.
I believe The Fence Post has been improved after hiring some new freelancers. However, striving to improve is something that is never ending. So expect to continue see new writers and don’t be shy about letting me know what you would like to see in the magazine.
I have been exercising, not always four days a week but as much as I physically can at my age. Because of that I’m taking that off my list for this year.
The eating healthy thing, not so much. I still eat too much licorice and peanut M&Ms, and my poor cooking skills leave me too dependent on ultra-processed food. So I will have to add eating healthier to my resolutions once again.
Finances in order, got that done.
Last year’s resolution included making new friends and finding new hobbies since I moved from Greeley, Colo. to Cheyenne, Wyo., in November. I have made new friends, mostly at the gym. The Laramie County Cattlewomen have also been welcoming, and I would like to thank them for including me in some of their meetings and activities. And I’ve reconnected with some old friends that have been very supportive.
As far as new hobbies, not so much. But I have always been an avid reader and got a library card and spend a lot of time at the Laramie County Library. I will also take that off my list for this year, but if it happens great.
One of my most urgent New Year’s Resolutions this year has to do with the realization that I’m a hoarder. This last move took a lot out of me and, if God help me it happens again, I need to be ready. I also moved into a smaller place and it doesn’t accommodate hoarders.
One of my problems is that I am the family photo and memorabilia keeper. These family members better be ready because they will be bombarded.
Speaking of family, I have not been spending enough time with them and they need to know how much I care about them. That will probably mean more trips to North Dakota, where all of my sisters live. At least they are bunched together in Edinburg, Hoople and Mountain, so there’s not a lot of travel once I get there. Of course, that will not happen over the winter. This last week a snowstorm closed the border from South Dakota to the Canadian border.
My last resolution is kind of on the same order as the hoarding one and involves cleaning out my garage so I can park my vehicle in there when hail season starts. That means a big rummage sale will be happening in my garage this spring.
I guess it goes without saying, but I will no longer be going to other people’s rummage and garage sales.
