Our dearly loved Dad & Papa Richard McClellan Miller, better known as “Butch” age 77, passed away on April 16, 2026, in Scottsbluff, NE.
He was the loving husband of Mary “Shorty” Miller. They shared 58 years of marriage together.
Born in Denver, CO on September 5, 1948, was the son of McClellan “Clell” and Virginia Miller. He attended Douglas County High School in Castle Rock, CO. He was employed at Douglas County Road & Bridge, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, as well as Elbert County Road & Bridge.
Butch & Shorty also owned their own businesses: Miller Timber and Firewood Products based out of Cherry Valley, CO. They finally fulfilled his life dream to own a farm in Lyman, NE. where they established B & S Farms & Trucking. They grew alfalfa, provided custom cut/baling hay services, and trucking from 1990-present.
Butch loved to hunt, fish, and farm, and ONLY John Deere green. If he liked you, you knew it because he would give you a hard time.
Butch is survived by his loving wife, Mary, children: Debbie Macy, Brenda Linders (Darrell), Naomi Hurt, La Vonne Herrera, and Delores King (Ronnie).
Butch is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Hugh & Verna Lucas, in-laws Lou and Marie Muller, his only son; Raymond Hurt, sons-in-law William Macy and Alphonse “Alie” Herrera.
Butch is also survived by grandchildren Heather Webb (Crystal), Tara Childs (husband Andy and child Riley, William Macy, Kayla Macy (Mike, sons Jaden and Zane), D.J. Linders (wife Linda and great granddaughters Jordan and Savannah), Dustin “Duster Buster” (wife Jaquira and great grandson Landon, Michelle (husband Stephen) Robino, Michael (wife Vanessa and great granddaughter Audriana), Kenny Garza (wife Charity and great grandchildren Lyndsie, Kenlie, and Liam) Erica Meadows (husband Presley), Kevin Haskins (wife Kim and great grandsons Tyler and Ethan), Melissa Hurt (grandchildren Maria, Ramon, Dakota, Sarah Soria (great children Francisco, Noalani, Jorge, Isaiah, and Angel and great grandson Emiliano), Brenda Hurt (grandson Antonio, Carlos), Robert Miller-King, Blane Miller-King (great granddaughter Ashlynne.)
