Golden Plains Area Cooperative Extension is hosting a workshop presented by Joanne Jones, Horticulture Agent of Morgan County on plant select plants and gardens, Saturday, April 7, from 2-4 p.m. at the Yuma Community Center 421 East 2nd Avenue in Yuma.

Plant Select® Plants ” the Plant Select® program was established in 1997 and is a cooperative effort between the Denver Botanic Gardens and Colorado State University with the help of horticulturists and nurseries throughout the Rocky Mountain region. The program’s mission is to “seek out, identify and distribute the very best plants for landscapes and gardens from the intermountain region to the high plains.”

Each year the Plant Select® committee announces plants that are recommended and plants that are introduced. Recommended plants are plants that have been grown in the area but may not have attained the popularity they deserve. Introduced plants are plants that have been discovered by cooperators, carefully tested in the area and found to thrive in our growing conditions.

Please RSVP by April 6, by contacting Linda Langelo at the Phillips County Extension Office at 970-854-3616.

Everyone is welcome.
